Five seminarians took the final step before the ordination to the Diaconate

By William Chow

On the eve of Thursday, June 2 during Evening Prayer I the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, five seminarians took the solemn Oath of Fidelity and made Profession of Faith, and Promise of Celibacy which was presided over by Seminary of the Good Shepherd Rector Rev. Danny Meagher.

Those who are called to exercise an office in the name of the church are required to make the profession of faith according to this formula approved by the church. The ceremony is a necessary step prior to ordination to the Transitional Diaconate, as it documents the seminarian’s willingness to uphold the teachings of the Catholic Church in the ministry he is to undertake.

Making the Oath and Profession were Sebastian Hew (Archdiocese of Sydney), Gerard Woo Ling (Archdiocese of Sydney), Richard Ddumba (Archdiocese of Kampala), Moses Tamale (Archdiocese of Kampala), and Joshua Scott (Archdiocese of Canberra-Goulburn)

We ask for your continued prayers for all of our seminarians and especially these men who eagerly anticipate their ordinations in the coming months.
