On Wednesday 16th March, 2016 Seminarians from the Seminary of the Good Shepherd were joined by the members of the Manly Union for their annual Dinner.  Our Seminary community was blessed by the presence of Bishops Terry Brady, Auxiliary Bishop of Sydney, and Peter. A. Comensoli, Bishop of Broken Bay, as well as 50 priests.  The annual dinner is an opportunity for the seminarians to meet priests who received their priestly formation at St Patrick’s Seminary, Manly, and who now support the education and formation of Catholic clergy throughout Australia.

Father Danny Meagher, Rector gave an update to the priests of the Manly Union on the state of the Seminary of the Good Shepherd.  Father Danny remarked the Seminary is a vibrant community that has continued to flourish since the time of its establishment, nearly 20 years ago, when St Patrick’s closed. The three course dinner was prepared by the Seminary kitchen staff, and served by the Seminarians who also washed up afterwards.  The Manly Union Dinner was a great opportunity for the Seminarians to talk to the priests and ask questions of the priests of their time in formation at St. Patrick’s College, Manly.

It is hoped that what was started at St. Patrick’s College, Manly will continue to be passed down to the Seminary of the Good Shepherd, Homebush from generation to generation and that the vineyard of the Lord will always have eager servants to care for it: Priests formed after the Heart of Jesus.
