May 16: Celebration of Admission/Candidacy

On the 16th May, Ascension Sunday, the Seminary went on their monthly visit to the Cathedral for vespers and the celebration of the Eucharist with Cardinal George Pell. This month was a special Sunday as four Seminarians received their Candidacy which took place in a small ceremony after the Cardinals Homily during mass. The Four Seminarians who received their candidacy were Sam Lynch, Emmanuel Seo, Peter Kwak and Greg Morgan.

The Ceremony consisted of the four men being presented to the Cardinal by Fr. Tony Percy, Rector of the Seminary, the Cardinal examining their commitment to continue their final stage of preparation for ordination, the acceptance from the Cardinal of the Candidates and Intercessory prayers for them.

It was an opportunity for them and the rest of the seminary community, to reflect on the commitment they are giving to their own seminary formation. By firstly acknowledging the need for God’s grace to guide one in his formation and also their own particular commitment to ensuring they reap all the fruits of their seminary Journey and become a true shepherd after the heart of Christ.

Congratulations to the four Candidates.
