Welcome to the website of the Seminary of the Good Shepherd

The Seminary is the place where young men, who desire to be priests, come for formation. In this website, you will be able to listen to the stories of some of the seminarians. You will notice that they come from many different backgrounds and they express many different reasons for coming. You will also be able to read about the formation program, which lasts seven years and includes human, spiritual, pastoral and academic dimensions.

Ultimately it is God who calls a man to the priesthood and we respond to God with love. The love of God is the foundation of any priestly vocation. So, at the Seminary, we seek to produce men who are strong in faith and love: such men can truly be shepherds after the heart of God.

I hope you enjoy looking through our website. Please remember us in your prayers.

Yours sincerely,

Fr Michael de Stoop

Thinking of the Priesthood?
Just as a plant needs the right conditions to bear fruit, so too do we need the right conditions for our faith to be nourished and grow so that we can discern effectively and be open to listening to the voice of God. We invite you to immerse yourself in a quiet environment for you to really focus your attention on listening to God.
Surrounded by the serene and peaceful bushlands of Mount Schoenstatt Retreat Centre, this weekend will enable you to spend some quality time in prayerful silence with Mass, Rosary, Prayer of the Church, Adoration and much more. This is a silent retreat weekend for young men 18-35 years old considering a vocation to the Priesthood.

A Day in the Life of a Seminarian

People often ask me about what modern seminary training entails. The answer is complex, having been recently ordained, I have been able to reflect on the formation I received over the past five and a half years, and how it has equipped me for my future ministry.
